Amber Cove is a beautiful, secluded beach in the Dominican Republic. It is located just a short distance from Punta Cana, and it is surrounded by a series of small, rocky islands. It is a place where beautiful shells and treasures wash up on the shore, and where you can find a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You might even see some dolphins pass by on a snorkel trip!
Amber Cove is an intimate, secluded beach community located in the Dominican Republic. A popular spot for day trippers, Amber Cove is located just outside the capital city of Santo Domingo. Amber Cove is located in Cabarete, one of the most popular destinations in the Dominican Republic.
The Amber Cove is a national park of the Dominican Republic, and a very popular tourist destination in the Caribbean.
Carnival Horizon landed at Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, in early July 2021. It was the first time since early 2020 that a cruise ship had visited the port.
Doug Parker of Cruise Radio came aboard and, of course, shot a bunch of pictures. Let’s take a look at the port area right now.
That time when the ship gets closer and closer to shore and the dock, which we all enjoy!
On the dock, the ship was welcomed by music and dancing. What a warm greeting!
I’m about to enter the port area. Amber Cove, in the Dominican Republic’s northern province of Puerto Plata, was built by Carnival Corporation and opened in 2015. In terms of cruise ports, it’s still quite young!
At Amber Cove, you can get just about whatever you need.
There are so many choices, but so little time!
Doug’s travel agent was also on board during this trip. She purchased a Grand Cabana for herself and all of her sailing customers. A Grand Cabana at Amber Cove can accommodate up to 20 guests.
Walking approaching the cabana’s front entrance.
Taking a look inside the cabana…
….as well as a glimpse of the ship from the expansive deck!
There are several cabanas to select from for your own private area while at Amber Cove, as seen by the equipment rental sign in the picture above. Smaller Poolside and Hillside Cabanas, as well as smaller Ocean Cabanas, are available in the same location as the Grands.

Let’s have a look at some of the services available. A section of the main pool is seen below, which is lined with loungers both under umbrellas and in the sun.
This is a different section of the same pool, which is linked to the one above. This is where you’ll find the big swim-up bar.
From this vantage point, you can view both of the above-mentioned locations, as well as how they’re linked by a little bridge to the other side.
Amber Cove has been compared to Grand Turk by several visitors. It also reminds me of the Margaritaville on Grand Turk, which has a similar wide pool, loungers, and bar.
Did I mention there are waterslides in Amber Cove? Because, of course, it does.
It also offers a zip line for those who want the best view of the port from above!
The scenery in this area of the Dominican Republic is very lovely.
If your children are too little to ride the normal water slides or swim in the main pool, there is a charming tiny splash pad for them to enjoy.
Coco Caa is one of Amber Cove’s restaurants and bars, and it’s a popular favorite. The interior design is certainly eye-catching!
Another section of the port area, this one surrounded with stores.
It’s almost illegal to leave Amber Cove without snapping a picture of the sign.
Amber Cove, see you later! Until next time, take care!
