Unless something changes, cruise lines won’t be able to travel to Alaska this summer during the lucrative tourist season, but a brand new opportunity has arisen for airlines.
Shipping companies are taking advantage of the fact that Canada has closed its waters and ports until February 2022 to ships with more than 100 people on board, which is negligible for cruises to Alaska’s popular Inside Passage.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, more and more travelers are planning to visit the state by plane, and airlines are offering additional flights to accommodate them.
Delta Air Lines is offering new flights to new destinations and new hubs from Anchorage and Fairbanks.
From Anchorage, Delta will offer new nonstop flights to Detroit, New York’s Kennedy Airport and Los Angeles. These new flights will be operated from the 28th. May only on Friday and Saturday.
In addition, Delta is increasing the number of flights from Anchorage to its hubs: to seven flights per day between Anchorage and Seattle, three flights per day between Anchorage and Minneapolis, and two flights per day between Anchorage and Salt Lake City.
