Carnival Cruise Line has suddenly removed all sailings for May 2021 from its website. Many guests have already noticed that they can no longer book cruises for this month.
This could now be a sign that Carnival is following in the footsteps of another major cruise line that continues to partner with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for a safe return to work.

As of Tuesday night, Carnival Cruise Line has cancelled all cruises for May 2021. It now appears that guests have been unable to book tickets and cruises for this month.
So far, only cruises from June 2021 are presented, with a total of 289 results on different ships and ports. Carnival last withdrew all of its sailboats in April; less than a day later, the cruise line announced a new suspension.

While nothing has been officially announced yet, this could be preparation for an official announcement on Wednesday morning. However, it is possible that it is simply maintenance work on the installation or that it is related to passenger traffic, which we know is part of the CDC’s requirements for Conditional Sailing Orders.
The cruise line has already recently announced a further suspension of its operations in Australia. Carnival Splendor cruises will be available until the 28th. June 2021 and the Carnival Spirit cruises until the 12th. September 2021 deleted.

It is not a surprise
Not surprisingly, Carnival Cruise Line is ceasing operations in May. Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled all of its trips for May, and when a major cruise line does this, it’s usually only a matter of time before others follow suit.
The three major cruise lines in the United States are handling the same CDC applications, and we have already seen indications of another delay of several weeks. The cruise lines are awaiting further information from the CDC on the resumption of operations, and no test cruises will take place in the meantime. Without test runs, there can be no guests.

All new protocols must first undergo a stress test, and cruise lines must have plans in place in case an outbreak occurs. The good news is that cruises to and from Europe and Singapore have already taken place and the health measures are working.

In the meantime, we will have to wait and see if the cancellation of the May cruises means a new suspension. The carnival has already announced on 22. January an extension of the suspension on their departure until 30. April 2021 removed.
Carnival has already cancelled some cruises well before the fall due to delays in the dry docks. The long-awaited debut of the new Mardi Gras in Port Canaveral is again scheduled for the 29th. May 2021. The hope is that the LNG-powered mega-ship will not be delayed a fifth time. The Carnival Radiation, which is being completely rebuilt, will not sail again from Long Beach until November 2021.
