Its outward-facing design was created to offer guests more connection with the sea and the places the ship visits. Highlights include the ‘Magic Carpet,’ a versatile dining and staging platform that can move vertically up the side of the ship. Other notable features include The Retreat, a private resort-within-a-resort, and first-of-their-kind accommodations including two-story villas with private plunge pools. The ship has the distinction of being named ‘one of the world’s greatest places’ by Time Magazine. The Magic Carpet on Celebrity Edge Here are some other highlights of Celebrity’s return to cruising:

Frequently Asked Questions
What port does celebrity edge leave from?
Celebrity Edge, the first U.S. ship to sail from a U.S. port, will begin sailing the length of the West Coast in May. The first vessel will be named Celebrity Edge and is a sister ship to Celebrity Solstice, which begins sailing next month. It will sail from the Port of Los Angeles to the Port of San Francisco, carrying passengers, cargo and vehicles. Celebrity Edge, which was built in October of 2009 at the Avondale Shipyards in Louisiana, is the first major vessel to ever sail from the U.S. west coast to Asia. It was built for Celebrity Cruises, the world’s largest cruise line, and is expected to carry more than 4,000 guests. The ship is expected to arrive in Asia on October 29th, and is bound for Shanghai, China.
Is it better to be on the port side of a cruise ship?
For those of you who haven’t been on a cruise, it’s safe to say you’ve never been on the ‘port’ side of a cruise ship. While this may seem like an entirely arbitrary distinction, it actually makes a huge difference in the overall experience. During the first few days of a cruise, the port side usually holds a mass of passengers, many of whom are there because it’s the only way to get to the ship. This means you’ll be sharing the space with strangers, there’s no privacy, and you’ll be subjected to a constant barrage of loud noises and people. The Celebrity Edge is the first U.S. cruise ship to sail from a U.S port, but a lot of it’s success will depend on the Royal Caribbean’s liner, Quantum of the Seas. It’s been announced that the Celebrity Edge will be sailing to Europe from Miami, but Royal Caribbean’s new ship, Quantum of the Seas, will be sailing a week earlier, traveling from the UK.
Where is the edge cruise ship now?
Celebrity Cruises is a U.S.-based cruise line that designs and operates high-end and luxury cruises. Less than two weeks ago, the cruise line announced that it would be debuting their first ever private luxury cruise ship. The ship, called “Celebrity Edge”, will be the first of its kind to sail from a U.S. port. Cruise lines have always been popular with travelers the world over, but it’s the recent surge in popularity of the cruise ship that has taken the big ships to new heights. The first major ship to be built in the U.S. in over a decade – Celebrity Edge – is set to launch in November (2016) and will be the first major cruise liner to sail from the U.S. Instead of sailing from one of the shipping ports in Europe, the ship will run its 7-night itinerary from Port Canaveral in Florida.
