The week begins with another dire situation in the world of cruise radio. There was a report this week that a cruise ship in the Indian Ocean had to be evacuated after a ship’s safety alarm went off. The liner was reportedly about to depart when the alarm sounded, prompting all 1,400 passengers to take to life boats. There were no injuries, and the ship was able to re-enter its home port of Dubai.

Carnival Breeze and Carnival Vista will return to the island on Sunday the 2nd. On May 20, 2021, the tug Wesley A. of Bay Houston Towing Company returned to Galveston Harbor. 2. Unfortunately, in Long Beach, California, the Queen Mary is at risk of flooding or even falling over. Millions of dollars in repairs were needed and the ship’s operator went bankrupt. The ship has been permanently docked in Long Beach for over 50 years and serves as a museum and hotel. This historic ship, launched in 1936, even served as a warship during the Second World War. 3. Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled plans to depart from several Caribbean ports this summer, suggesting that cruises from the US will resume very soon. For example, Norwegian Gem will no longer depart from La Romana, Dominican Republic, and Norwegian Joy will no longer depart from Montego Bay, Jamaica, as previously planned. Norwegian Gem 4. Mardi Gras, Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, arrived in Port Canaveral, Florida, this week after a two-week voyage from Barcelona. Mardi Gras is the first cruise ship in North America to sail on LNG, a cleaner fossil fuel. MSC Cruises has announced new details about the upcoming MSC World Europa and also opened the ship for bookings starting Monday.
