New Hyatt promotion: up to 1,250 points per night, plus one free night after 10 nights

The new Hyatt promotion (registration required) will be available from 1. March to the 15th. In June, 2,000 points will be awarded for every two-night stay (2,500 points for guests with a co-branded Hyatt credit card) and a free night in categories 1-4 will be awarded after 10 nights during the promotional period.
- 2,000 bonus points for every 2 qualifying nights (which do not have to be consecutive) from 1. March to the 15th. June 2021.
- All Hyatt brands are eligible, as well as MGM resorts, small luxury hotels around the world and participating Lindblad expeditions.
- Co-brand members receive an additional 500 bonus points for two nights’ stay.
- And anyone can win the Category 1-4 Free Night Reward after their first 10 qualifying nights during the promotion (only winable once).
A base of 2000 points every other night isn’t worth a thousand points per night, but it’s easier to think of the value per night.
The break-even point for doubling points is an average of $200 per night. So 2,000 points per 2 nights (not to mention the 2,500 points for Hyatt credit card members) will easily earn you more than double the points.
I valued the Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each, so 2,000 points are worth $28, 2,500 points are worth $35. Divide this value by two to get the average discount per night, provided you stay an even number of nights during the promotional period.
Of course, the real asset is the additional category of 1 to 4 free nights in addition to the bonus points. It is obtained after a stay of 10 nights and is valid for a stay of 180 days from the date it is credited to your account. Free nights count towards elite status and career advancement.
