Problem: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has found that the largest number of Americans have ever contracted a strain of bacteria known as CRE, or Clostridium difficile, which is a leading cause of severe diarrhea, and in some cases, death. Solution: The CDC has been trying to find a solution to this problem for years, but there’s no easy way to stop the spread of the disease.
As of Wednesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that its investigation of the first reported case of the Zika virus (ZikV) in a woman in Florida is ongoing. The case was announced by the CDC to the Puerto Rican government on May 20. The CDC’s statement did not mention any associated symptoms, and as of May 22 the woman had not received any medical attention for her illness. The CDC advises that pregnant women should avoid traveling to areas of Zika virus transmission, including Florida.
A cruise ships elegant and sophisticated fleet of ships will be hard hit by the CDC’s recent decision to ban the use of electronic devices on cruise ships in the US’s largest cruise port, the Port of Miami, for the entire 2019 season. The CDC cited concerns over the safety of cruise passengers and crew, in addition to the possibility of spreading the highly contagious norovirus. The CDC ban also prohibits the use of cell phones regardless of the mode of communication (i.e. texting, calling, Skype, etc.) during passenger and crew boarding and disembarkation times.. According to FOX 35 Orlando, officials from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ office said mediation between the state and the CDC, appointed by a federal judge last month, failed after lawyers involved in the lawsuit announced they had reached an impasse. ADVERTISEMENT Current trend No compromise has been reached between the two parties. The lawsuit, filed in April, is based on the CDC’s updated Conditional Navigation Order, which requires cruise lines to vaccinate at least 98 percent of crew and 95 percent of passengers before allowing them to go to sea for a fee. Florida officials say the CDC’s decisions were arbitrary and capricious, unconstitutional and in violation of federal administrative procedure laws. In response, DeSantis enacted a law that imposes a $5,000 fine on any customer who is asked for proof of vaccination against the coronavirus while driving. Unfortunately, the CDC has chosen to continue its ridiculous and illegal regulations aimed at one industry by imposing requirements on vaccines – something no other company or industry should do, DeSantis said. The CDC did almost nothing to resume navigation until Florida sued. As Florida cruise lines struggle with the ever-changing maze of CDC requirements for safety plans and simulations, time is of the essence, DeSantis added. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the cruise industry fears Alaska’s 2021 summer and fall seasons could be disrupted if the judge rules in Florida’s favor. US President Joe Biden recently signed a bill allowing cruise ships to sail to and from Alaska without docking in non-US ports. This would circumvent a Canadian law that prohibits ships from carrying more than 100 passengers until February 2022. A Florida court victory would result in a ban on the CDC’s conditional navigation order, which would prohibit vessels sailing to Alaska from operating under the provisions of federal law.The outbreak of zika virus in Florida appears to have slowed down, at least temporarily. But in Alaska, the outbreak has reached epidemic proportions, and the CDC is getting ready to send more than 100 workers to the area to help contain the virus. As the CDC confirms more cases, cruise lines are starting to take action as the season nears. Some are canceling trips to Alaska, while others are adjusting their itineraries..
