The little luxurious hotel is a new concept in Paris, and it comes with a cinema, a hotel bar, a nightclub, a restaurant, a gaming room, a spa, fine dining and a rooftop bar, all offered in a unique and original way. The concept of a hotel within a hotel is something that has never been seen in other cities.
The Hotel Paradiso Cinema-Hotel will be located in beautiful surroundings. This is a concept hotel that integrates the world of cinema and the world of hotels, thereby creating a new relationship between the two. The hotel is equipped with 20 movie screens, a multilingual bar and restaurant, and will offer a unique view of the city. It will also have the latest technology in its rooms and facilities.
The first hotel in Paris dedicated to the film, Hotel Paradiso, opened in March, and at the top of the press release we received it reads: A movie in every room. This new concept hotel is a family business founded by brothers Nathanael and Elisha Karmitz. His father, Marin Karmitz, founded the mk2 cinema chain in France in 1974. The small cinema shows mainly international and independent films and has since developed into a film production and distribution company. Nathaniel and Elisha are the next generation heirs to their father’s film company, and they are expanding on their father’s vision and their own vision of film with new projects like Hotel. Elisha Karmitz was generous enough to give us a personal tour of the hotel earlier this month. When we asked him if he had a passion for film, he said he didn’t have a passion for film, but that he was born and raised in the world of film and it was like the air he breathed. Hotel Paradiso has 34 rooms and two cinema suites. Each room is specially designed to provide guests with the best possible movie experience and features a 3-meter wide screen and a laser projector. Customers can choose from a wide selection of home-produced DVDs and access streaming platforms such as Netflix, Mubi, CanalPlus and Disney, all at the touch of a button on their tablet. As soon as a guest selects a movie, the curtains close, the lights go out and the movie is shown – all automatically. The modern furnished rooms and junior suites feature full or twin beds with five-star quality mattresses with extra layers. The curtains, pillows and other accessories in the room are in pleasant shades of purple, blue, mustard and deep red, with rare movie posters from the Carmitz family’s private art collection on the walls. The minibar contains organic popcorn and other movie snacks. You can order room service from your tablet in your room. On the ground floor of the hotel is the six-screen mk2 cinema complex, which is open to the public, but hotel guests receive two free tickets to watch films on the big screens. Cinema Suite and Grand Cinema Suite offer a unique cinema experience. In addition to the comfortable and well-appointed rooms on the seventh floor, with stunning views of the city and terraces, there is a separate projection room that can seat up to eight people, with cushy seating and the same state-of-the-art projectors as the mk2 cinemas. The cozy cafe at the entrance is a branch of Bob’s Juice Bar, owned by American Mark Grossman. The menu features breakfast, sandwiches, bagels, savory platters, organic juices and, in homage to the film industry, wine from Francis Ford Coppola’s vineyards. The rooftop terrace overlooks the Eiffel Tower and offers an outdoor film club with a range of special films, as well as a cocktail bar and a grill menu.
The internationally renowned French artist JR is a friend of the family and has created two exclusive photographic murals for the hotel. The first mural, 15 metres high and 3 metres wide, is attached to the buildings opposite the hotel and depicts a still image from the film Charlie Chaplin’s Baby (1921). The second is a classic picture of Harold Lloyd hanging on the hands of a clock from the film Last Alarm (1924). The hotel is located in the non-touristy residential area of the 12th district. Neighborhoods near Plaza de la Nación, a major metro and commuter rail center. Paris’ central districts, including the Louvre, Saint Germain, the Champs-Elysées and the Marais, are 10 to 15 minutes away by metro and 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or Uber. Rooms start at $140 per night; prices for the two suites are $467 and $522 per night. If you have any questions, please contact Fabien Bovalier, hotel manager, at [email protected].
