Due to the cancellation of all sailings over the June weekend, Norwegian Cruise Line has officially announced that it will cease operations in June 2021. This means that cruises cannot resume until July at the earliest.

NCL extends suspension until summer
Norwegian Cruise Line has now officially extended the suspension through the summer. This affects all brands owned by NCLH, including Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas.
This means that all cruises up to 30. June 2021 cancelled, with first sailings not until early July 2021. Earlier, the cruise line had suspended operations until May, as had rivals Carnival and Royal Caribbean.
This was no surprise, as the cruise line had already pulled the yachts from the booking engine for the weekend. When a cruise line does this, it usually doesn’t take long for it to become official.

Guests Cancelled
Those affected by other cancellations will be refunded the full amount paid before the 4th day. May 2021. Guests will also receive a 10% discount coupon that will automatically be added to their account if they haven’t already.
The coupon can be redeemed on a future NCL cruise that will depart in 2022. However, it is only valid for one year from the date of issue.

Why a new suspension?
NCL said it would continue to operate under the conditional navigation order system administered by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But we all know the cruise line is frustrated and waiting for more technical details from the CDC.

Until this is done, Norwegian Cruise Line cannot begin trial sailings to test the new sanitation protocols. Once the CDC has given its approval, it will be 60 days before normal guest travel can resume. This will take time, and there is a lot to do, e.g. B. Get the crew back on the boats.
NCL has already hinted that a new extension may be possible after hundreds of crew members received return letters. This came shortly after many had returned to their ships in anticipation of a new start in early 2021. Norwegian Cruise Line can hope that the vaccination continues and that by the time cruises resume, most guests will have been vaccinated. Things are still very much in flux and cruise lines are adapting to the changes, not just in the US but around the world.
