It’s a rare occurrence when we see a politician get banned after making a rude comment about an airline CEO. But that’s what happened in early February, when Senator Al Franken called Delta Airlines CEO Richard Anderson a “poof” back in 2011. It’s a story that has come to light recently because the airline recently received a lawsuit for the same comment.
United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz was exposed in a scathing report by the Chicago Department of Aviation, who accused him of “abusing his power” and “defending a sexist culture” within the company, which led to the ban. The airline has been under fire following the death of a passenger when a flight was forced to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River, and the company has been under a lot of pressure to improve its on-time performance..
