There are many vaccinated travelers in the United States, and they are willing to travel.
A new survey by Travel Leaders found that 85% of respondents said they were already vaccinated or planned to be vaccinated if they met the requirements.
One in three people have already booked their next holiday and 62% are planning their next holiday this year. Sixty-two percent also stated that they would be more likely to visit a country if vaccination was required for entry into that country.
These data are interesting because they suggest that travel is an important factor in motivating many people, especially older people who are most at risk of serious illness or hospitalization from COVID-19, to get vaccinated, said John Lovell, president of the Travel Leaders Group. Compare this group of travellers, 44% of whom have already been vaccinated, with the general population, where only one in seven has been vaccinated.
Travelers are ready to explore the world again. Of those surveyed, 32% have already booked their next holiday and 24% are planning it.
Remarkably, respondents who had already been vaccinated were 20% more likely to have already booked their next holiday.
Three quarters of respondents plan to travel in the near future. Thirty-four percent say they plan to vacation in the spring and summer, and 23 percent in the fall. Five percent plan to travel during the holidays.
The vacation the travelers have in mind seems new and adventurous. Forty-four percent said discovering new places is what they miss most about traveling. Twenty-five percent said they would drop everything.
As the rollout of the vaccine progresses, we are seeing more and more Americans planning and booking their vacations for this year, said Roger E. Block, president of the Travel Leaders Network. Our travel consultants tell us that many of their clients are ready to travel, but are still concerned about minimizing risk and adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. We believe our book program will help these advisors empower their clients to make informed decisions about where, when and how to travel.
The Travel Leaders Network has made it easy for advisers to keep up to date with the latest detailed health and safety protocols through Book with Confidence.
At a time like this, the value of booking with a travel consultant becomes even more apparent, Block adds. Booking with a travel consultant is the best possible strategy for navigating the new world of travel.
