Virgin Atlantic will begin testing IATA Travel Pass and TrustAssure on select flights in April and March, respectively.
From the age of 16. In April 2021, Virgin Atlantic will offer passengers travelling from London Heathrow to Barbados the use of the IATA Travel Pass smartphone app for one month. The participants downloaded the app on their smartphones and created a digital identity with their profile picture, passport details and COVID-19 data.

Singapore International Airlines is the first airline in the world to start a practical test of the IATA Travel Pass. Virgin Atlantic is the first British airline to begin these trials. The application is currently being considered by governments around the world to help travelers easily verify their compliance with medical requirements for international travel. Future versions of the application will also include vaccination data.
From 29. In March 2021, Virgin Atlantic will begin implementing TrustAssure for its customers traveling in the US to digitally verify COVID-19 test results. Documentation for each client can be downloaded from the TrustAssure website and validated in less than two minutes. Customers will then receive a QR code to check in for their flight.
Both IATA Travel Pass and TrustAssure store personal information locally on users’ phones, giving users full control over how their information is used or shared.
Alongside the UK’s successful vaccination programme, and combined with the gradual relaxation of risk-based restrictions, we could see a flight path emerge as early as this summer that allows for the safe resumption of large-scale international travel, said Cornell Koster, Chief Operating Officer, Customer Experience, Virgin Atlantic. As airspace reopens, rapid and accessible testing, combined with the integration of digital health, is essential to streamline and simplify customer service, ensure border health checks are manageable, and build consumer trust. Governments, industry and technology companies need to work together to drive digital solutions with globally shared standards that are approved at the border.
