With spring break in full swing and the summer holidays just around the corner, travelers are preparing for a well-deserved vacation after a busy year. Travel will be a little different this time around, though, and people are looking for companies that have updated their health and safety protocols.
Not only has RIU Hotels & Resorts always implemented excellent hygiene and sanitation measures, but the company reinforced these protocols during the COVID 19 pandemic. Families and friends looking for a safe place to spend their next vacation can choose RIU with confidence.
Hugo Aguilera, director of partner marketing and business development at RIU Hotels & Resorts, recently shared the latest updates from the company.
(TP): What specific COVID-19 protocols does RIU Hotels & Resorts use to ensure the safety of guests and employees?
Hugo Aguilera (HA): At the outset of the pandemic, we partnered with the Preverisk Group, a leading international health, safety, auditing and tourism training company, to develop a comprehensive security program against COVID. More specifically, good social distance and hygiene practices have been implemented in all indoor and outdoor areas of our spas, such as. B. Cleaning and disinfection, as well as personnel and environmental hygiene practices, shall be implemented. In addition, RIU Hotels & Resorts has provided its employees with more than 20,000 hours of COVID-19 preventive safety training to ensure the safety of all our guests and employees.
It should be noted that RIU already had very high safety and hygiene standards in place before COWID-19, which were further strengthened after the pandemic.
TA : How has the dining experience changed at RIU Hotels & Resorts?
HA: Dinner is one of our best dining experiences, as there is a wide range of gourmet options. Our main objective remains to ensure this by adhering to new health and safety protocols, including new e-menus through our Riu Guest Info App.
Upon arrival, the staff manages the entrance to the restaurant and assigns customers their assigned tables, constantly disinfecting the tables, chairs and all objects on them. In addition, breakfast, lunch and dinner times have been extended to increase the restaurant’s capacity.
TA : What is included in the free trial of COVID-19?
HA: In addition to the safety measures already in place, our guests can now have a COVID-19 antigen test performed on site before returning to the U.S. – at no additional cost to all adults and children. This service is available at all of our resorts in Aruba, Jamaica, Mexico and Punta Cana and is performed by a CDC accredited medical testing laboratory. Testing will be conducted within 72 hours prior to departure, as directed by the CDC, and results will be provided in writing and/or electronically prior to departure. Guests should contact their hotel reception or customer service upon arrival to verify check-out times.
In the unlikely event that the test is positive for COVID-19, RIU Hotels & Resorts will grant a free extension of up to 10 days beyond the original departure date. Extended stay due to quarantine includes the guest and all parts of the room. This policy is in effect until the CDC rules for this new requirement are changed.
